About Karen
“Today will offer you opportunities. Are you able to recognize them and prepared to make something out of them?”
- Ralph Marston (2023)
I’ve always been a person thinking about my next opportunity, challenge, and adventure. As a child growing up in western NY, my dad used to chuckle at how I was always up for anything – a trip to a new part of town, a new game, or meeting new people.
This curiosity and need for achievement led me to a life of high achievement by objective standards (lots of degrees, certifications, and progressively more responsible positions). Over time, I began to wonder if the work-life (im)balance was worth the challenge as my children were launching and I realized that I wasn’t excited by expanding organizational roles, but energized by work that required innovation, connecting with others and had an impact.
At the same time, I had what I refer to as a work quake – a new boss arrived and created an environment where I became miserable in how I was spending my days – a mantra I ask myself regularly. After working with my own coach, spending some time reflecting on what brings me fulfillment, I decided to launch Aduri Strategies. An organization grounded in partnering with others to:
-
Identify what are your unique strengths and talents? Especially for individuals with (dis)abilities.
-
How can you leverage your unique talents for professional success?
-
Building leadership and organizational capacity for innovation and change?
-
Building an organization that supports an inclusive work environment for people with different (dis)abilities.
